Throughout his 25 year period as both an RAF fighter pilot and test pilot, he was never far removed from the topic of safety.  Flight Safety, Safety Equipment, Safety Procedures, Safety Cases, Safety Analysis and Safety Boards, safety was apparently everywhere and yet with four and a half thousand flying hours and two more take offs than landings one might feel either let down by the culture of safety or simply unlucky. He ejected from Lightning F Mk 6, XS921 and Hunter FGA 9, G-BVVC and his address will focus on both.
